University Arms Cambridge, re-created in 2018 by architect John Simpson and interior designer Martin Brudnizki. A stunning 192 room hotel arranged across four floors, with views over Parker’s Piece, historic Regent Street, and the hotel’s inner courtyard. Strada London partnered with John Simpson and Martin Brudnizki to supply a full package of architectural ironmongery to the Guest Rooms, Suites, Guest Front of House zones and Staff Back of House zones. The style is undeniably British. Classic Edwardian interiors are beautifully detailed with a full suite of Antique Brass-finished products, including the Strada London Lamont Lever Handle and bespoke Pull Handles for the front-of-house zones. Strada London also specified and coordinated the specialist automated operation to the Main Entrance Doors which combined market-leading technology whilst fully sympathetic with the aesthetic and allure of the building. Further services included the adaption of products to operate with the Hotel Access Control systems and Strada London’s full project management services.
Strada London is very proud to have been part of the University Arms Cambridge journey, perhaps best articulated by John Simpson Architects’ pre-project vision:
‘The aim was to create something with timeless appeal; architecture that honours the traditions and creates an aura that is present in so much of the historic architecture in the city.’
