Mews House, Blackheath

When an award-winning architect practice sought an ironmongery supplier for a new build mews house in Blackheath, Strada London proved the ideal partner.

The project involved the conversion of garages into a family dwelling within Blackheath Conservation Area in Southeast London. The architect’s vision of a two-storey glazed pavilion was softened through the clever addition of timber venetian blinds to the exterior of the building. Glass Juliet balconies upstairs overlook the lawn in the courtyard garden, while huge sliding and pivoting glass doors open the ground floor living space fully to the outdoors. With a green roof and photovoltaic panels, this contemporary home is environmentally as well as aesthetically pleasing.

Strada London specified and supplied the locks and door-operating mechanisms – including the strong devices required for the expansive glass doors to the garden – as well as the cabinetry fittings used around the house. Careful choice of the architectural hardware in this stunning new build has resulted in a beautiful finish and the building has been shortlisted for the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) London 2015 Awards.
